ADHD is a Gift

I am convinced that the only reason people with ADHD need to medicate themselves is to deal with the other 80% of the people who are not ADHD. Justifiably, everything is set up for them: schools, work, all of our societal processes. We are not a "problem" or "disorder"--it's been shown that we are generally gifted and have some pretty substantial discoveries and inventions to our credit, since many creative, brilliant people they now believe were ADHD.

I am currently studying Frank Lloyd Wright. The man was ADHD. He changed Taliesin West every winter he came back to it. He hated traditional education--because IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. Yet he created some of the most brilliant structures of any architect in the last three centuries.

ADHD is not a curse. It is a gift. The challenge with seeing it as a gift comes not from the "disorder" itself, but from trying to fit in to a world that doesn't fit us.
